N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) said, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR,) the Chief Minister of Telangana, wants to drive away the people of AP, who are residing in Telangana.

On the 27th of March, during a public rally in Anantapur, Mr. Naidu said, “KCR said he would take back our houses and properties of AP origin people in Telangana. He also said if they set foot in Telangana, he would break their legs. He said we had come from Madras to settle in Telangana and would drive us away.”

Mr. Naidu was campaigning in Anantapur with J.C. Pavan Reddy, the Member of Parliament (MP) candidate of Anantapur, and Farooq Abdullah, the President of the National Conference.

Mr. Naidu also said, after Sonia Gandhi, the Chairperson of the All India Congress Committee (AICC,) promised to grant a Special Category Status (SCS) to AP, KCR demanded the same for Telangana.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) the ruling Government in AP, is fighting for the SCS since the bifurcation of AP in 2014, under the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Naidu recently protested against the Central Government for the same demand and went on a 12 hour strike as well.

Mr. Naidu shared the video of his speech on Twitter and criticised the opposition Party,Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.) He questioned Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the YSRCP, wanting to join hands with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

Mr. Naidu also criticised the growing friendship between the TRS and YSRCP and claimed, the action is only for political benefit. Mr. Naidu said, the TRS wants to rule in AP, hence, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR,) the Working President of the TRS, joined hands with Jagan Mohan Reddy. KTR also said he would campaign for Jagan Mohan Reddy, ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

However, KTR, on behalf of the TRS, denied all the allegations. He asked Naidu why the latter wanted to form an alliance with the TRS during the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, when he thinks joining hands with the TRS is wrong.

Mr. Naidu will continue to campaign in different areas of Andhra Pradesh with the TDP leaders, ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh are the YSRCP, the TDP and the JanaSena Party.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
