Kodali Nani, the State Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) member, reacted to the allegations of gambling in Gudivada.

On the 21st of January, Mr. Kodali Neni said he would quit politics if the Gudivada Casino allegations are proved against him. However, if it is not proven, Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party and Mr. Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the Party, should tell what they would do.

Recently, during Makar Sankranti celebration, a video of people gathering at Gudivada Convention Centre, gambling , catering a non-veg buffet and girls dancing to entertain people went viral on social media platforms.  Upon the video of Gudivada in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Y.V. Murli Krishna, the Chief functionary at Bhavishyatu Badhrata Dalam, wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of India Mr. N.V. Ramana and the chief justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Mr. Prashant Kumar Mishra, highlighting gambling activities at the convention centre.  In the letter Mr. Y.V Murli Krishna said, “Gudivada has become famous for a casino after Goa.  People’s representatives openly supported this illegal activity.  The event happened very near the Gudivada circle police station and no case has been registered yet.  Cheerleaders performed objectionable dances.  Many people lost crores of rupees in gambling.”

Soon, the matter became a huge political issue, with the involvement of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders criticising the YSRCP Government.  Leaders like Mr. Konakalla Narayana and Mr. B. Arjunudu, met the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Krishna District Mr. Siddharth Kaushal and submitted a representation to file a case.  They demanded action against Kodali Neni, who is heading the convention centre.  The group of TDP leaders also alleged the support of the YSRCP Government to be behind the illegal casino at Gudivada Convention Centre.  However, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, did not comment on the issue.

The TDP leaders also asked to visit Gudivada and inspect the ongoing, but were denied by the Andhra Pradesh Police.
