The Election Commission of India (ECI,) on the 9th of April, announced three days as dry days, in the states of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

According to the ECI, both the Telugu states will witness ‘no liquor’ days from 6:00 P.M., of the 9th of April to 6:00 P.M., of the 11th of April.

The police are inspecting the areas to ensure all the wine shops are closed, whereas restaurants across the States will not serve alcohol.

The ECI officials said, to ensure smooth and fair polls, a notice was issued regarding the dry days in the States, following which, all the wine shops, bars and restaurants were closed on the evening of the 9th of April.

The ECI also banned the use of firecrackers to avoid noise pollution in AP and Telangana. If anyone is found violating the rules, the ECI will take strict actions against the individuals.

Telangana will conduct Lok Sabha elections, whereas Andhra Pradesh will hold both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 11th of April.

Telangana

Telangana will contest a total of 17 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 11th of April 2019.

The major parties contesting the Telangana Lok Sabha elections are the TRS, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

The results of the Telangana Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats and 25 seats in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections respectively. The elections in the State are scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections are the JanaSena Party, the YSRCP and the TDP.

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be declared on the 23rd of May 2019.
