Lok Sabha Elections – TDP Leader Switches Party

S.P.Y. Reddy, a senior leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on 20th of March, joined the JanaSena Party.

Mr. Reddy met Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party, in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and proposed his desire to join the JanaSena Party.

Pawan Kalyan welcomed Reddy by presenting him with a Party shawl. Mr. Reddy also approached Pawan Kalyan to give a JanaSena ticket to his daughter as his health is not good.

However, an official announcement regarding the ticket allotment is yet to be made.

Reddy is a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Nandyal constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He quit the Party as N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of AP and the President of the TDP, refused to give them a MP ticket in Nandyal.

Mr. Reddy said, “We were expecting the seats but at the last hour the seats were allocated to some others.”

The switching of S.P.Y. Reddy from the TDP to the JanaSena Party, a few weeks before the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections, could be a major setback for the TDP.

Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 25 seats in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections, scheduled on the 11th of April.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh are the JanaSena Party, the TDP and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

The results of the Andhra Pradesh Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.

Stay tuned for further updates about the Lok Sabha elections.
