In Andhra Pradesh, Machilipatnam Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus stand to get a facelift.
On the 20th of January, Friday, Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Managing Director and Vice Chairman, confirmed the same. He said that Machilipatnam RTC bus station would get a facelift as the Corporation is taking up development works worth Rs 3.5 crore soon.
Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, along with senior officers visited Machilipatnam RTC bus station and inspected platforms, depot, dispensary etc on Thursday, the 19th of January.
Later, speaking to the media, the MD said that platforms and depot extension works would be taken up as part of the development works. He further added that the RTC is planning to use the unused quarters in Machilipatnam. The RTC dispensary would be shifted to another location for the convenience of the RTC staff and their families as the staff are suffering during the rainy season in the existing location due to the stagnation of water.
Referring to the increase in the RTC revenue, MD Tirumala Rao said the RTC is leasing its lands located in prime locations in the State and inviting tenders from interested parties. Moreover, the RTC MD asserted the Road Transport Corporation would protect its lands and other properties and create awareness of the services of the RTC.
It is to be noted, Mr. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said RTC was merged with the State Government in January 2020 and consequently working towards the progress of the APRTC.
