On the 23rd of September, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) gave the contract of the Polavaram Irrigation Project to Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL.)
According to sources, the State Government received an application by MEIL with the lowest bid of Rs. 4,358 crores for the construction of the Project.
The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP announced a profit of Rs. 628 crores with the help of the reverse tendering, which is 12.6 % less than the actual cost.
The actual cost of the Polavaram Project quoted by the YSRCP Government was Rs. 4,986 crores.
With the lowest bid, MEIL grabbed the biggest project of Andhra Pradesh (AP.)
According to the YSRCP Government, MEIL can start construction after getting legal approval from an Andhra Pradesh court.
The Polavaram Irrigation Project is one of the important projects in Andhra Pradesh, which is expected to resolve all the water issues in the State.
