The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) released their manifesto for the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation elections 2021. The manifesto release event was held in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh on the 26th of February.
On the evening of Friday, Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the TDP, released the two page manifesto.
The election manifesto has the 2021 calendar along with a picture of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP on one side and its 10 promises on the other side.
According to the TDP’s manifesto, if they win the elections, the Party would revive Anna Canteens, providing food at Rs. 5 for the poor. They would waive off property tax dues, would provide safe and clean drinking water and ensure a clean drainage system.
The other promises in the TDP manifesto include conduct of
Udyoga Mela (job mela) for unemployed youth every six months, Sundarikarana Mission (Beautification Mission) which would ensure a garbage free clean town/city. In order to achieve a clean city, the TDP would be doing door to door collection of garbage and setting up garbage bins every 500 meters.
In addition, after winning the Municipal elections, the TDP would have proper underground drainage system, pits free roads, a healthy atmosphere with parks and open gyms, playgrounds and LED street lights in the Municipal Corporation limits of A.P.
Other promises made in the TDP manifesto are:
- Set up free auto stands with toilet and drinking water facilities.
- Set up SHG federation meeting halls in every slum,
- MEPMA bazaar in every town and interest free loans with bank linkages.
- Would distribute TIDCO houses to the poor.
- Increasing salaries of sanitation workers to Rs. 21,000 a month.
- final promise is to provide a free tap connection without water tax.
After the TDP General Secretary released the manifesto, opposition’s Ambati Rambabu termed TDP’s manifesto a farce.
Mr. Ambati Rambabu, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) said, “Naidu should be ashamed to say water is being denied to Kuppam. What was he doing when he was CM?”
Mr. Ambati said all promises of TDP are impractical and impossible to achieve.
While TDP’s manifesto was released on the 26th of February, the YSRCP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are yet to release their manifestos for the Municipal elections. With the recent Panchayat election results, it is assumed, the YSRCP would win the Municipal elections.
The Andhra Pradesh Municipal elections are scheduled to be held on the 10th of March.
