Pawan Kalyan Expresses Shock Over Another Gas Leak Incident In Andhra Pradesh

Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party, on the 30th of June, expressed shock over the gas leak incident in Visakhapatnam’s Parawada area, Andhra Pradesh.

On the night of the 29th of June, a chemical leaked in a pharma unit at Parawada, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. 

The incident took life of two people and left four seriously injured. 

The injured are undergoing treatment at hospital in Visakhapatnam.

The incident created panic amongst citizens of Visakhapatnam district.

This the second gas leak incident in the past two months amid the pandemic crisis, the Novel Coronavirus.

Pawan Kalyan said he was shocked by the news and over the death of two people who worked in the pharma company.

He expressed concern over the two toxic gas leak incidents in Andhra Pradesh, Vishakhapatnam’s LG Polymers and now Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC.) 

According to the Department of Industries, Government of Andhra Pradesh, the company had applied for a ‘consent for establishment red category’ on the 15th of June, 2020 and the permissible date of approval was decided to be the 14th of July. 

The application was still at the concerned department waiting to be approved and even then the factory became operational.

Pawan Kalyan recalled how the JanaSena party constantly suggested the Andhra Pradesh State Government to be cautious about the pharma industries, chemical industries in the district, especially with villages nearby.

Mr. Kalyan asked why the State Government did not respond to this. 

Pawan Kalyan said, all the chemical industries in the state are demanding an immediate safety audit.  He further demanded an inquiry by an expert committee. 

Besides Pawan Kalyan, Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and President of TDP Nara Chandrababu Naidu also condemned the gas leak incident and demanded a probe against the pharma company.
