Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, is on a visit to Andhra Pradesh, on the 4th of July.

According to sources, on Monday morning,  Mr. Narendra Modi left for Andhra Pradesh’s Bhimavaram region to attend the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. 

Taking to Twitter, Mr. Narendra Modi posted the update, and said, “Leaving for Bhimavaram to attend a very special programme- the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the great freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju.  Will also unveil a bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju.  This will enhance the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.”

After reaching at Bhimavaram, Mr. Narendra Modi participated in the event and unveiled a 30 feet tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju.  Born on the 4th of July, 1897, Alluri Sitarama Raju is remembered for his fight against the British, to safeguard the interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region.  He had led the Rampa rebellion, which was launched in 1922 and referred to as “Manyam Veerudu” (Hero of the Jungles) by the locals.

Besides the statue unveiling, the Andhra Pradesh Government led by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also planned a series of initiatives as part of the year long celebration.

The  Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government has also approved the construction of Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu with a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra.  The temple would also have the infrastructure with mural paintings and interactive systems, depicting the life story of the freedom fighter Alluri Sitaram Raju.

While YSRCP leaders, Andhra Pradesh Government officials and BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh, would attend the event, a special invitation has been sent to Megastar Chiranjeevi.

On this occasion, Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, sent an invitation to Mr. Chiranjeevi, asking him to attend the event as a special guest.  After the event, Mr. Chiranjeevi is also likely to meet Mr. Narendra Modi.
