Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, ensured to complete the Polavaram Project soon.
On the 23rd of March, Thursday, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, the Polavaram Irrigation Project (PIP) would be completed by his government soon. Started under the leadership of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Late Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, and now his son Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would complete the project.
Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Started by his father Late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, would be completed by him now.”
Addressing the assembly, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, he reiterated that the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government was able to save Rs. 800 crores on the project by going for the reverse tendering process. He said, “Recently I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking Central support for expeditious completion of the Polavaram project. As revised estimates for the project are taking time, I sought Rs 15,000 crore on and the basis for the project works.”
Updating the developments in the Polavaram Project, the Andhra Pradesh CM said, the Central Government is prepared to spend Rs. 550 crores additional expenditure for paying Rs. 10 lahks compensating to every project displaced family.
Furthermore, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy blamed the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government and former Chief Minister Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the delay in the project works and damage to the diaphragm wall in Godavari floods. Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to even utter the word Polavaram, leave alone take credit for it. The TDP chief had used Polavaram as an ATM to get cash.
Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “These are not my words, PM Modi himself has said it.” He further said, “Nothing can be far from the truth. Polavaram was the dream project of YSR and now as his son, I will complete it.”
The Polavaram Project is the dream project of Andhra Pradesh, the largest irrigation project, which would resolve major drinking and irrigation issues for farmers in Andhra Pradesh.
