Kollu Ravindra, a former minister of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) was arrested by the Machilipatnam Police.
On the 11th of October, the Machilipatnam Police arrested Kollu Ravindra after he decided to go on a 36 hour protest against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.) The protest was called regarding the sand shortage and illegal selling of sand in Andhra Pradesh.
Kollu Ravindra announced to go on a 36 hour initiation protest at Koneru Centre. However, the Police said they did not give any permission for conducting a protest and imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the area.
Despite the refusal of the Machilipatnam Police, the TDP ex minister called for the protest, following which, the Police arrested him from his residence.
The Police also arrested Bachula Arjuna and other TDP leaders for supporting the protest initiated by Kollu Ravindra.
