TDP Leader Devineni Umamaheswara Rao Under House Arrest For Protesting Against YSRCP

Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, a leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was placed under house arrest on the 20th of January.

According to sources, Mr. Devineni Umamaheswara Rao was under house arrest at Gollapudi in Vijayawada after he tried to sit on a deeksha in support of the Amaravati farmers.

The Amaravati farmers are protesting against the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for Proposing three capitals for Andhra Pradesh.

Previously Amravati was supposed to be the only State Capital, but the YSRCP proposed to have three capitals, Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.

The protest started on the 17th of December 2019 and completed 400th day on the 20th of January 2021.

In support of the farmers, the TDP leaders like Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, decided to sit on deeksha.

However, to stop them, the Andhra Pradesh Police put them under house custody.

Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar have entered into an argument with police for placing them under house arrest without a valid reason.

The TDP leaders asked the police officials to give reasons in writing for putting them under house arrest.

The writing behind the arrest from the State police is yet to be made.
