Ahead of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Mr. Pattabhi Ram, the Spokesperson of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) asked the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) government for relaxation from restrictions amid the Wuhan virus.

On the 7th of September, the TDP Spokesperson addressed the media and urged the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Government to lift curbs, allowing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the Telugu State. He said, “We feel that it is a part of a larger conspiracy by Mr. Jagan Reddy to attack one particular religion.” To prove his point, he highlighted the recent event of the death anniversary of the late Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy the former CM of Andhra Pradesh and the father of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Mr. Pattabhi Ram said, the death anniversary of late Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy was celebrated without following the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols. However, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is citing the Wuhan virus pandemic for not allowing Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. He also questioned that when there is no protocol for YSRCP party programs and the death anniversary of Rajsekhara Reddy, why is there regulation for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations?

The TDP Spokesperson said, the TDP has given a call to all party Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and incharges in all the 175 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh to organize the festival in a huge way by following COVID-19 protocol. The JanaSena Party, the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also raised their voices and demanded to remove curbs and allow Ganesh Chaturthi celebration.

The Andhra Pradesh BJP unit intensified their protest against the COVID-19 curbs. They said the YSRCP President is discriminating and not allowing Hindu festivals to be celebrated.

The YSRCP Government is yet to respond to the allegations and demands.

Meanwhile, the 10th of September is going to be celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi in India.
