Ponguru Narayana, a former minister of the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government and a current member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) on the 3rd of December, visited Anantapur, AP.

Mr. Narayana, the head of Narayana Educational Institutions, was thrashed and was misbehaved with by students of a Narayana institute in Anantapur.  Mr. Ponguru was on an inspection of the institute, but due to the assault and violence, he immediately left and abruptly ended the visit.

Leaders of the student union of the Narayana institute blocked Mr. Narayana’s way and attacked him, alleging him of charging them high fees.

One of the leaders said despite the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government restricting hike in fee, the institute increased the fees and ruined the lives of several students.

Soon, many students came together and started protesting and fighting.  Some of them even threw stones at Narayana’s car and broke his car’s windows.  Another group of student union leaders surrounded Narayana and pulled at his shirt.

When the situation worsened, the followers of Mr. Narayana informed the Anantapur Police.  The Police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

The Police registered a case against the student union leaders and launched an investigation.
