In 2022 Republic Day (R-Day) celebration on the 26th of January, no tableaus from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana would be a part of the Republic Day Parade.

However, the Union Government rejected Andhra Pradesh’s tableaus for the main event parade at Red Fort in Delhi.  Notably, for selection at the parade in Delhi, all tableaus have to go through four stages. This includes:  showcasing the artwork in 2D to the Union Defence Ministry, modifications in the 2D design, presentation of a 3D model with music and final presentation with all the changes and modifications.

While Andhra Pradesh’s Tableaus was rejected, the neighboring Telugu State, Telangana, decided to stay away from the R-Day parade. The K. Chandrashekar Rao Government did not send proposal of Tableaus performing at the Red Fort.  This is the second time in a row that the Telangana Government decided to stay away from the R-Day parade, citing the Wuhan virus pandemic, also known as COVID-19.

Besides Andhra Pradesh, tableaus of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu have also been rejected to perform at the Red Fort, on the 26th of January.

In regard to this, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Mr. M.K.Stalin, the CM of Tamil Nadu wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 18th of January.  Defense Minister of India Mr. Rajnath Singh reacted to Ms. Mamata and Mr. Stalin’s letters and asserted that the selection of tableaus took place in a transparent manner.

According to the reports, 12 tableaus from 9 departments secured a place in the Republic Day parade.

On the 26th of January 2022, India will celebrate 75th Republic Day.
