Telangana is conducting its final phase of the Zila Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) polls, on the 14th of May.
The polling for 1,738 MPTC and 161 ZPTC seats started from 7:00 A.M., and will continue till 5:00 P.M.
A total of 5,726 and 741 candidates are in the fray for the MPTC and the ZPTC seats respectively in Telangana.
Approximately 1.56 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise and vote in the Parishad elections in the State.
The Election Commission (EC) of Telangana set up 9,494 polling booths and arranged for tight security to conduct smooth and peaceful elections.
The MPTC and ZPTC elections are divided into 3 phases, scheduled on the 6th of May, 10th of May and the 14th of May.
On the 6th and 10th of May, Telangana contested a total of 378 ZPTC and 4,077 MPTC seats in the 1st and 2nd phase of the Parishad elections.
Apart from the last phase of the ZPTC and the MPTC elections, the State will also conduct re elections for the MPTC seats in Aziznagar and Alwal, which were cancelled on the 10th of May.
The EC announced the re elections due to changed ballot papers in Aziznagar of Moinabad and Alwal of Mirdoddi mandal in Siddipet, Telangana.
The results of the ZPTC and the MPTC elections will be announced on the 27th of May.
