On the 2nd of June, Telangana is celebrating Telangana Formation Day, the day when Telangana officially came into existence as an independent State.

On the 2nd of June, 2014, Telangana emerged as a separate State from united Andhra Pradesh under the  Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of Parliament in 2014.

Though the Telangana Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in February 2014, it got approval from the President of India on the 1st March 2014.

Later, the Government of India declared the 2nd of June as the Telangana Formation Day.

Every year, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) celebrates the day in a grand way.  However this year, due to the pandemic crisis, the event would be a low key affair.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, paid floral tributes to Telangana Martyrs at Gun Park on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day.  He hoisted the National flag and celebrated the day with a few TRS leaders.

This year due to the Novel Coronavirus breakout, citizens of Telangana are also celebrating the independence of Telangana following the guidelines of lockdown and COVID-19.

Meanwhile, President of India Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter and extended greetings to Telangana and its people on the Telangana Formation Day.
