The Telangana High Court (HC,) on the 6th of February, reviewed a petition filed by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.)

Jagan Mohan Reddy recently filed a petition in the Telangana High Court, challenging the orders of the special Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) Court in Hyderabad.

The special CBI Court at Nampally, Hyderabad, is reviewing a years old disproportionate assets case filed against the A.P., CM.  Jagan Mohan Reddy, who needs to appear at the Nampally CBI Court every Friday, filed a writ petition seeking exemption from personal appearance.  Jagan Mohan Reddy said since he has a lot of responsibilities as the Chief Minister of a State, it would be difficult for him to personally appear for the case every Friday.

The CBI Court dismissed his plea, following which, he moved the Telangana HC.

According to sources, in the last hearing, the Telangana HC, which is reviewing the case since the 28th of January 2020, asked the CBI Court to submit an affidavit and reply to the HC by the 6th of February.

However, the CBI’s counsel filed a plea asking the HC to grant some more time for filing a counter affidavit.  The HC agreed and postponed the case to the 12th of February.

Meanwhile, the AP CM  appeared in the CBI Court for the hearing of the disproportionate assets case filed against him.
