Tollywood superstar NTR Junior, on the 22nd of September, took to Twitter and posted his stand regarding the NTR Health University name change proposal matter.
In his tweet, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Junior also known as NTR Jr. or Taraka, responded to the proposal of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government to change NTR Health University to YSR Health University.
The tweet posted in Telugu read: (Both NTR and YSR are great leaders who are extremely popular. In this way YSR raised the level of respect that comes by removing one’s name and adding another’s name. Also this action does not lower NTR’s status. By renaming the university, NTR’s fame, his stature in the history of the Telugu nation and his memory in the hearts of the Telugu people cannot be erased.)

Notably, on the 21st of September, during the second to the last day of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Session, State Chief Minister Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy held a debate on the bill to change the name of the NTR Health University. Clarifying the reason behind the change of the NTR Health University name, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said,the reason behind changing the NTR Health University to YSR Health University, is to pay tribute to Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was a doctor and always helped people, bringing medical growth to the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.
The proposal has created a political ruckus in the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh, as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) raised objection to the change of name. Notably, Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief of the TDP, said the health university was established by the late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, the founder of the TDP, during his regime, and changing the name of the university is an insult to the late NTR.
There is section of netizens on the micro blogging site Twitter, which claimed the decision to be unfair and raised their voices, demanding the name to remain NTR Health University.
