Two AP Districts Reports Zero COVID-19 Cases Till Date

Till the 10th of April, two districts, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram of Andhra Pradesh reported zero cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In a State of 13 districts and 471 positive COVID-19 cases, these two districts stand tall without any trace of the virus.  

It would be surprising to know, despite being close to the Maharashtra border and Odisha border, the people and the authorities managed to curb the virus entering the districts.

According to sources, the concerned officials in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam witnessed 1,445 foreign returnees and 4,271 contacts of the returnees.  However, all of them were immediately quarantined leaving no scope for the spread of the virus.

The doctors conducted the COVID-19 tests of all the 4 suspected pateinets and results for all were negative.

M. Chanchaiah, the Medical and Health Officer of Srikakulam, said, “It is because of our early intervention, there are no positive cases.  We took every possible and required initiative to see that the virus does not spread.”

Besides medical staff, the police officials in the districts also ensured people follow lockdown and social distancing strictly.

While Vizianagaram and Srikakulam does not have any COVID-19 cases, Kurnool and Guntur have the highest number of cases, 75 and 51 respectively.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh reported a total of 365 cases of the Coronavirus infection and 5 deaths till date.
