Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) announced a ten time hike in cash for gallantry awardees from the State. 

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) announced a hike in cash award for the Armed Force personnel who won the Gallantry Award from Andhra Pradesh.

According to the official release of the State Government, after the 10 times hike, the Param Vir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra, Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra award winners would get Rs. 1 crore, Rs. 1 crore, Rs. 80 lakhs, Rs. 60 lakhs and Rs. 60 lakhs respectively.

The issued Government Order (GO) read, “Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees are being extended Rs. 10 lakh till now. The same has been enhanced to Rs. 1 crore. Mahavir Chakra and Kirthi Chakra awardees will be given Rs. 80 lakh instead of Rs. 8 lakh. Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra awardees will get Rs. 60 lakh instead of Rs. 6 lakh.”

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the increased amount of money during Swarnim Vijay Varsh, the golden jubilee celebration of the victory in the 1971 India-Pakistan War.

The event was held in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh to mark the victory of India over Pakistan and the freeing of Bangladesh from the tyranny of Pakistan.

On the 18th of February, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister received the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal, Flame of Victory, to commemorate the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Swarnim Vijay Varsh.

Later, Mr. Jagan felicitated J. Chinatalli, widow of Naik J. Sanyasi, who was a part of the 1971 War. The felicitation was held at Police Parade Grounds, Tirupati.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs. 50 lakhs for the families of the martyred soldiers.
