Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, held a review meeting on the 27th of January, Friday.
The review meeting of the Medical and Health Department was held at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Camp Office in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh. During the meeting, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the medical and health officials to ensure the implementation of concept of family doctor in Andhra Pradesh, under the ruling Government. In 2022, the ruling YSRCP Government announced their planning to have family physician system to enhance the healthcare system of Andhra Pradesh. The State Government also clarified that the new system, when implemented would be an additional benefit to beneficiaries of the Aarogyasri Scheme.
Those treated and discharged under Aarogyasri Scheme would get additional medical services through this family physician or family doctor system. The services would have online doctors and would receive complaints regarding unsatisfied treatments under the Aarogyasri Scheme by hospitals and other benefits in the health sector.
The State CM asked the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to overview that every constituency and assembly have a family doctor concept in effect from the 1st of March 2023. Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also asked the health authority to ensure and supervise hospitals functioning under the State Government, to have efficient doctors and staff.
In addition, officials were also ordered to start distribution of Ragimalt to children thrice a week as part of the Gorumudda scheme from the 1st of March. Moreover, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also directed the concerned officials to set up cath labs along with cancer prevention equipment and treatments in all existing and newly constructed teaching hospitals.
Ms. Vidadala Rajini, the Andhra Pradesh Health Minister, Mr. Jawahar Reddy, the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh and senior officials of the Health Department attended the meeting.
