Amid the Wuhan virus pandemic, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched another development project in the State.

On the 4th of June, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government launched the awaited Amul Paala Veluva project. The new project has been launched in collaboration with Amul, the dairy cooperative society, to develop the dairy sector in Andhra Pradesh. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., launched the project virtually from West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh.

Under the new Amul Paala Veluva project, the milkmaids of the State would get a profit and would enhance the dairy sector in A.P. Initially, the Amul Paala Veluva project was started in Chittoor, Prakasam and Guntur (Kadapa.) The project’s first phase commenced in 400 villages of three districts.

In the next phase, the project would now be expanded to villages in West Godavari. The expansion of the new project would be in 9,899 villages across Andhra Pradesh in a phased manner.

The Amul Paala Veluva project is one of the promises made by the YSRCP President Y.S. Jagah Mohan Reddy during the padyatra in the 2019 Assembly election campaign.

During the padyatra, a few dairy farmers complained about the drowning dairy industry in A.P. The farmers highlighted the situation by comparing the price of 1 litre mineral water is higher than 1 litre of milk. Considering the dairy situation and farmers plight, the State Government promised to bring the Amul establishment to A.P. It started with Chittoor, Prakasam and Kadapa in the first phase, launched in 2020.

Within a year, as promised, the YSRCP Government launched the second phase and brought Amul to West Godavari.

Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “We will expand Amul to 9,899 villages in the State and will increase it from Rs. 5 to Rs. 15 per liter. An additional Rs. 4,06,00,000 has been received so far for 13,739 women (sic.)”

Meanwhile, R.S. Sodhi, the Managing Director of Amul said that CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had brought revolutionary changes for the development of villages.

He said that the Amul company is running with the participation of farmers and the earned profits of the Amul company are being passed on to the farmers.
