Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 14th of November, launched the Nadu Nedu (Then and Now) programme in the State.

Under the Nadu Nedu programme, schools, colleges, Gurukuls, hostels and degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh would be renovated.

Starting from the 14th of November, Children’s Day, the AP Government would develop infrastructure and additional facilities like repainting the walls, new blackboards, toilets and others for school students.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also directed the officials to take photographs of the schools, degree colleges and others before and after their development for public audit.

The Nadu Nedu programme is divided into 3 phases.  In the 1st phase, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) would renovate schools, whereas in the second phase, government colleges, junior and degree colleges would be renovated.  In the third phase, the YSRCP would cover polytechnic colleges, residential schools and welfare hostels in AP.

On the occasion of launching the Nadu Nedu programme, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also introduced English as a medium of instruction for pupils studying between 1st standard and 6th standard.  Mr. Jagan said children are facing difficulties in their education as they lack English language skills.

Jagan Mohan Reddy also said approximately 33 % of the children in AP are illiterate.  He said, “The Country is moving forward with advanced technologies and the Internet. Ten years later, robotics will be crucial in every field.”

Emphasising on the need for English medium schools, Jagan said our students should be prepared to compete with the world by studying in English medium schools as it is necessary and would help them compete.

The YSRCP also announced government schools across Andhra Pradesh would be converted to English medium schools to enhance the education system in the State.
