Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on his birthday, launched the Y.S.R. Nethanna Nestham scheme in Dharmavaram, Anantapur district, A.P.
After his birthday celebrations in Visakhapatnam, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy went on a visit to Dharmavaram village and launched the scheme aimed at benefiting as many as 85,000 weavers.
According to the Nethanna Nestham scheme, weavers would be given Rs. 24,000 annually to start their own handloom business and lead a decent life. The amount would be transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries under the supervision of the A.P., Government. This would be of great benefit to all the handloom weavers in Andhra Pradesh.
During the inauguration of the scheme, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the previous State Government led by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for ignoring the weavers of Dharmavaram. The village of Dharmavaram is one of the major handloom attractions of the State.
The eligible household weavers could enjoy the benefits of the Nethanna Nestham scheme.
The criteria to be eligible for the scheme are:
- The individual must be a resident of A.P.
- The individual must be a handloom weaver.
- The individual must have certificates and registration with any handloom association in A.P.
- The individual must be a handloom weaver below poverty line (BPL.)
- The individual must be a bank account holder.
The documents necessary for verification are :
- Residential proof
- Identity proof
- Registration certificate
- BPL certificate
- Bank account details.
The Y.S.R. Nethanna Nestham scheme came into effect from the 21st of December 2019.
