Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for Karakatta development works.
On the 30th of June, Wednesday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the stone for a 15.525 km stretch at the Krishna River Flood Bank (Karakatta.) The construction work of widening the stretch from the Kondaveeti vagu lift irrigation scheme at the Prakasam Barrage would help in widening and strengthening the Krishna River Flood Bank (Karakatta.)
In addition, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government would construct a 10 metre two way road for walking along with renovation work of the Kondaveeti vagu bridge. There would also be the construction work of the venkatayapalem Rayapudi Outfall Sluice and a flood monitoring centre at Krishna River Flood Bank (Bund) road.
In order to complete the construction work, the State Government released Rs. 150 crores. The development work and the expansion work would be carried out under the supervision of the Department of Water Resources with funds from the Amaravati Smart and Sustainable City Corporation Limited.
An official close to development work explained the projects and said, “The double lane road will connect the N1 Road to N13 Road with Amaravati Seed Access Road from Undavalli to Rayapudi and six-laning of Vijayawada bypass from Gollapudi to Chinnakakani, including a major bridge across River Krishna. The widening of Krishna river flood bund will facilitate easy access to the secretariat and High Court and also the transportation of agricultural products from the surrounding villages of Tadepalli and Thullur mandals. The strengthening of the bund road will protect the existing flood bank from erosion and also prevent inundation of surrounding villages during floods. (sic.)”
With the construction of these projects, the transportation to Amaravati, Secretariat, High Court, other Government Offices, Educational Institutions, Undavalli, Penumaka, Tulluru, Venkatapalem, Mandadam, Uddandarayunipalem, Rayapudi, Borupalem, Abburajupalem, Amaravati mandal, would be improved.
The event of laying the foundation stone was attended by the YSRCP ministers like Anil Kumar Yadav, Botsa Satyanarayana, Sucharita, Ranganatha Raju and Narayana Swamy. In addition the YSRCP leaders like Mopidevi Venkataramana, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs,) the Guntur District Collector Vivek Yadav and other officials were also present at the event.
