Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 21st of October, visited Vijayawada and paid tribute to police officers killed in action and marked the Police Commemoration Day.
Mr. Reddy, along with D. Gautam Sawang, the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police, paid tribute at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium, Vijayawada.
During the event, Jagan Mohan Reddy also announced insurance cover for police personnel and home guards, if they are killed in the line of duty. Mr. Reddy said the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) would soon introduce an insurance of Rs. 30 lakhs to Home Guards and Rs. 40 lakhs to police officers, if they lose their lives while performing their duties.
Jagan Mohan also said the YSRCP Government decided to increase the salaries of the Home Guards from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000.
Jagan Mohan Reddy concluded his speech and congratulated M. Sucharita, the Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Gautam Sawang for implementing the insurance and welfare schemes.
YSRCP members and Andhra Pradesh Police officials, with their families, attended the event.
