The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government announced the inclusion of 809 diseases under the YSR Aarogyasari Scheme, benefiting eligible people in the Telugu State of Andhra Pradesh.

On the 28th of October, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took the decision and announced the same, aiming for better medical treatment under the government scheme.  Furthermore, he directed the medical and health department officials to ensure that the required number of doctors are present in all the state run hospitals and there should not be any scarcity of medicines. With the addition of 809 diseases, the tally of diseases being treated under the YSR Aarogyasri Scheme went to 3,255.  It is to be noted, under the reign of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) approximately 1,059 diseases were treated under the health scheme, which increased to 2,059 in 2020, under the rule of the YSRCP.  Later in July 2020, the YSRCP again added more ailments and increased the tally of diseases being treated under the health scheme to 2,200, it increased again to 2,436 in November 2020, 2,2446 in 2021 and now to 3,255.

In regard to these extended services, the YSRCP Government is spending approximately Rs. 3,481.70 crores.  

Besides enhancing the medical services, the State Chief Minister also directed officials to introduce facial recognition attendance in the department along with a sufficient number of doctors and medical staff at hospitals. 

Concluding the review meeting, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the concerned officials to pay special attention towards women’s and children’s health at all the state run hospitals.

The meeting held at Nellore district, was attended by all the senior YSRCP leaders, cabinet ministers and officials of the State Health Department.
