Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 25th of July, took to Twitter and posted his response about the ban of alcohol.

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly, on the 25th of July, introduced a new Act, following which, the State Government will look after the alcohol shops in the State.

The tenders and bar owners must take permission from the State Government to sell alcohol in Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, the President of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) said he will soon impose a complete ban on alcohol in the villages of Andhra Pradesh.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his Assembly election campaign, promised the people he will take the necessary steps to ban alcohol in the State.

Jagan said, “We are acting harshly towards the beltshops, asking for a ban and Legislation was also passed to hand over the responsibility of selling alcohol to the five start hotels only.”

According to the manifesto of the YSRCP, drinking is endangering campuses and damaging human relationships and should be restricted to star hotels. He further added alcohol will be banned in the State in three stages.

This is said to be a step towards the complete ban of alcohol in the State.
