On the 9th of April, Y.S. Sharmila, the daughter of late Y.S. Rajashekhara and sister of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, addressed a public meeting at Khammam, Telangana.
The event known as Sankalpa Sabha with the gathering of nearly was organised for the official announcement of the launch of Ms. Sharmila’s Party in Telangana. She is all set to launch her political party in the State against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 8th of July. With this, she would also contest the upcoming Assembly elections of Telangana in 2023. Besides the TRS, Y.S Sharmila also opposed the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their injustice and never fulfilled promises towards the State.
During her speech at Khammam Ms. Sharmila said, “They (the INC and the BJP) appear to be fighting with the TRS but all of them are chips off the same old block.” She further added, “The Congress has turned into a company which supplies MLAs to the TRS and the BJP has nothing to offer to the people except fomenting communal passions. There is a need for our party to question the government on its omissions and commissions. You are not alone, I am with you. I am not alone, you are with me. Together, let us fight KCR who has crushed Telangana’s self-respect under his left foot.”
Y.S. Sharmila chose the 8th of July to be her Party launch day as it is the birth anniversary of late Y.S. Rajashekhara. While Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stayed away from her launch event in Telangana, Y.S. Vijayamma, the mother of Y.S. Sharmila attended the event as the Chief Guest. While the official announcement of her Party was made on the 9th of April, the details, agenda and the name of the Party would be revealed on the 8th of July.
Meanwhile, Y.S. Sharmila announced to take hunger strike for three days against the ruling TRS from the 15th of April. The strike would be for the demand of job notifications for people of Telangana. Ms. Sharmila would be on hunger strike until the 18th of April, demanding 1.19 lakh government job notifications for the citizens and youths of Telangana.
Ms. Sharmila is also likely to hold meetings and public rallies to engage people of Telangana before the official launch of her Political Party. The newly launched Party of Ms. Sharmila would aim towards the growth and development of Telangana and without any support from Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the efforts and work of the Party would decide the future of Y.S. Sharmila in Telangana against the TRS, the INC and the BJP.
