On the 30th of May, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) completed one year of its Government in Andhra Pradesh.

In the past year, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led YSRCP Government, established a good image amongst the citizens of the State.  All classes of the society, be it students, poor, migrants, middle class and others, are impressed by the governance of the YSRCP.

Mr. Reddy in the last one year, launched several schemes under its Party manifesto agenda, navaratnalu scheme, for the welfare of the State and its people.  However, the State received disappointment and criticism from the people over a few decisions like 3 State capitals.  A section of farmers of Amaravati, who gave their land to make Amaravati the only State capital protested the decision of having 3 capitals, Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.

Beside this, the State Government also suffered a low income state in just one year due to the pandemic crisis, the Novel Coronavirus.   However, despite such financial crunch in the State, the welfare scheme launch continued with its pace and benefits under the Navaratnalu schemes were announced for the citizens.

Some of the welfare schemes announced by the YSRCP Government are, Rythu Bharosa, fee reimbursement, Arogyasri, Jalayagnam, ban on alcohol, Amma Vodi, YSR Asara, and Cheyutha, Housing for poor, and Pension- enhancements, were launched since Reddy became the Chief Minister.

Mr. Reddy at the launch event of Mana Paalana-Mee Suchana’ (Our Governance-Your Suggestion) a week long flagship programme said, “We have fulfilled nearly 90% of the manifesto’s promises.”

With its victory in 2019 Assembly elections against the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party, made 10 years dream of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy came true.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, after taking over as the A.P., Chief Minister, assured welfare, growth and development of A.P.,in every sector by following the idols of his father late Y.S. Rajashekara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of A.P.

The YSRCP won with 151 Members of the Legislative Assembly out of total 175 seats and 22 Members of Parliament (MPs) out of total 25 MP seats.

Considered as one of the best and historic decisions of the YSRCP, 5 deputy Chief Ministers of A.P., not only helped the YSRCP Government to be popular amongst citizens but also helped to focus on the activities and schemes announced under the Navaratna policies.

Farmers of the State happy with the implementation of YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme said, “Initially I thought it was just a point in the manifesto but will not be implemented with commitment.  But the way he is going ahead with Rythu Bharosa centres is marvellous.  If the farmers don’t get the Minimum Selling Price in the market, the Government is going ahead to the extent of buying the crop. Apart from this, farmers are being taught with the latest technology.  I firmly believe no farmer in AP will commit suicide down the line Rythu Bharosa is the total game changer in my opinion that no previous Government could achieve.”

Another major agenda of the YSRCP Government is to make Andhra Pradesh an alcohol free state, which the Party is determined to achieve in a phased manner.

As of now, alcohol is being sold in the shops with a hike of 75 % price with a limited number of shops open in the State.   Before the term ends for the YSRCP Government, Andhra Pradesh is expected to be an alcohol free State.

Mary Martin, a software professional from Visakhapatnam shared his opinion over one year of the YSRCP Government and said, “He (Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy) seems to be focusing more on welfare but not development.  Had there been considerable foreign investments and more employment generation in a big way, I would have given 100 points.”

Speaking about the negative points of the YSRCP rule, many citizens said A.P., High Court cases against the YSRCP Government like Jasti Eeshwara Prasad case, A.B. Venkateswara Rao murder case and recent, Dr. The Sudhakar Reddy case is an issue for the YSRCP Government, which allows criticism for YSRCP leaders and institutions under them.

On the completion of a year of the YSRCP Government, the Party launched Mana Paalana-Mee Suchana‘ (Our Governance-Your Suggestion), a weeklong flagship programme.  The event which concluded on the 29th of May, was organised for five days with brainstorming sessions and discussions aiming development of different sectors in the State.
