The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on the 5th of November, announced it would launch the Nadu Nedu (Then and Now) programme on Children’s Day, the 14th of November.

Under the Nadu Nedu programme, schools, colleges, Gurukuls, hostels and degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh would be renovated.  Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister, on the 5th of November, conducted a review meeting and briefed the Education Department officials about the programme.

During the meeting, Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to take photographs of the schools, degree colleges and others before and after their development for public audit.

The YSRCP Government is going to start the development work from the 14th of November.  Under the programme, the Government would develop infrastructure and additional facilities like repainting the walls, new blackboards, toilets and others for school students.

The Nadu Nedu programme is divided into phases.  In the 1st phase, the YSRCP would renovate schools, whereas in the second phase, government colleges, junior and degree colleges would be renovated.  In the third phase, the YSRCP would cover polytechnic colleges, residential schools and welfare hostels in AP.

The YSRCP Government allocated a huge sum of money for the Nadu Nedu programme in partnership with the Education committees and would also take suggestions from students’ parents.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said the State Government would also start English medium education for students from 1st to 8th standards.

The Education Department officials were asked to prepare a curriculum for the same and were also asked to distribute books, shoes and uniforms to children at the beginning of the academic year.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “There should be no instance of children not receiving books till September or October and next to English medium will be introduced in class IX (sic.)”

After the development of the educational institutions in AP, the State Government would also develop hospitals, sub centres, area hospitals, district hospitals and teaching hospitals in Andhra Pradesh.

The Nadu Nedu programme for hospitals would begin from the 15th of December.
