11 People Die in MY Hospital in Indore

Indore, MY Hospital, Oxygen Supply, 11 people died, Sanjay Dubey, lack of oxygen

On Thursday, 11 people died at MY Hospital in Indore including two children. The shocking deaths happened after the oxygen supply mysteriously stopped for 15 minutes. The incident happened between 3 A.M., and 4 A.M.

The administration at the hospital went into damage control mode justifying the deaths by saying it was “routine” in such a big hospital.

Sanjay Dubey, Divisional Commissioner has said the deaths were not due to lack of oxygen or negligence by the hospital but also mentioned that the matter will be looked into if required.

People began to panic when the media tried to get answers so the medical records of the deceased were shown. The records that show the oxygen supply was off, have vanished.

To make matters even more suspicious the staff that was in charge of the oxygen supply system have not been found. The senior officials at the hospital have refused to clarify the incident.

Sanjay Dubey was quoted as saying, “There is no negligence. I have been to every ward of the hospital after certain local newspapers carried the misinformation. There was no break in oxygen supply. The deaths are routine in a 1400-bed hospital.”

He also added the hospital records around 10 to 20 death everyday.

Administrative officials, locals and politicians rushed to the hospital to get clarity on the incident. The hospital is one of the largest government medical facilities in central India. This is not the first time the hospital has come under the scanner. Back in 2016, two children died in the hospital after being given hydrogen instead of oxygen.

Dubey’s argument for there being no possibility that the oxygen was cut off is, “If the oxygen supply had been cut off, the rest of the patients should also have died.”

The hospital authorities seized records of patient deaths and stopped any flow of information. They also mentioned that 16 patients had died in 24 hours from Wednesday at 8 A.M.

Dr. V. S. Pal, hospital superintendent said 11 people had died in the night but refused to give any details including time of death.
