On Tuesday evening, Harshita Dahiya, a folk singer was shot dead in Chamrara village of Panipat district, Haryana. The police has registered a case of murder against unidentified people and the investigation is underway.
Dahiya was returning to Delhi with three others after performing at a program in Chamrara. Panipat Deputy Superintendent of Police, Desh Raj reported, “When she was returning, a black car overtook her vehicle near Chamrara and forced it to stop.”
The assailants forced the three people out of the car and then shot Dahiya six times before fleeing. The singer and dancer sustained fatal bullet wounds to her head and neck killing Harshita on the spot.
The police reported the 22 year old Harshita, might have been killed due to personal enmity. Panipat Superintendent of Police, Rahul Sharma explained that recently Harshita had filed a rape complaint against her brother in law who is now in jail. The singer is also the witness in her mother’s murder in Delhi.
Recently, Harshita posted a video on social media where she claimed to be getting death threats but she was not afraid.
