Chennai: Finally, the Kollywood Actor, Sivaji Ganesan’s statue has been moved to a memorial hall in Adyar, following the Madras High Court’s order. This move has evoked criticism from the political leaders.

The statue was shifted between 1 A.M. to 4 A.M. Almost thirty cops were positioned at Marina beach. This came after the Madras High Court in January instructed to remove the statue because of repeated complaints about the traffic and also motorists’ are facing blocked view.

The traffic police also said that it has increased the risk of accidents in the premises. Even the court refused to move the statue to another location on the Marina promenade.

TNCC president, EVKS Elangovan said that it is not good to move a legendary actor, Sivaji Ganesan’s statue to a memorial at a remote place.

PMK leader, Ramadoss condemned the move saying that there are a lot of statues on roads in Tamil Nadu and only Sivaji’s statue causing traffic is unacceptable. He wants a new statue of the actor to be placed between those of Mahatma Gandhi and Kamarjar on the 90th anniversary of the actor, a report read.

During the DMK rule, the statue was set up at Marina promenade on July 12, 2006.
