Amazon’s virtual assistant, Alexa, will soon be able to talk to users in Hindi.
Rohit Prasad, the Vice President and Head Scientist for Alexa, said, efforts are being made to enhance Alexa, in terms of its ability to converse in regional languages and Hindi.
During Amazon’s re:MARS conference, which was held on the 7th of June in Las Vegas, Mr. Prasad said, “Yes, we are working on infusing regional languages capabilities in Alexa for the Indian market but these are early days.”
The team is not only trying to enhance Alexa in terms of languages, but is also working on Alexa responding to cultural content such as common jokes, communication in several accents and natural reactions.
Mr. Prasad said, “We envision a world where customers will converse more naturally with Alexa: seamlessly transitioning between skills, asking questions, making choices, and speaking the same way they would with a friend, family member, or co worker.”
However, the Amazon team working on Alexa did not announce a deadline for the new version of Alexa.
An official announcement regarding this is yet to be made.
