N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) will visit the Polavaram Irrigation Project, on the 6th of May.

Mr. Naidu, who is looking after the construction of the Polavaram Irrigation project decided to visit after a review meeting, which was held on the 2nd of May at the Secretariat in Amravati.

The meeting was conducted to review the progress report of the Polavaram Project.
D. Umamaheswara Rao, the Water Resources Minister, Shashi Bhushan Kumar, the Principal Secretary of Water Resource Department of Andhra Pradesh and other officials were present during the meeting.

Sashi Bhushan Kumar briefed Mr. Naidu regarding the development project and said the work is going on. Kumar further said, in spite of polling scenario in the State, the construction at the dam site did not stop.

Naidu will be accompanied by few Telugu Desam Party leaders to the Polavaram site and will look the progress himself.

The Polavaram Project is a multipurpose irrigation project, situated on the Godavari river, in the East and West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh. The project is under construction and was designed as a solution to the scarcity of water in the State.

With the completion of the Polavaram Project, approximately 4 crore people of the State would be benefited in the field of irrigation.

After the announcement of the elections dates in Andhra Pradesh also, Mr. Naidu managed time from his campaigned schedule and visited the dam to check the progress in work.

Andhra Pradesh contested the Lok Sabha and the Assembly elections for 25 and 175 seats respectively.
The AP elections took place, on the 11th of April 2019, where the major parties that contested were the TDP, the JanaSena Party and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP.)

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May.
