Pawan Kalyan, the President of the JanaSena Party (JSP,) who is contesting the Assembly elections from Gajuwaka, is facing stiff competition from the other candidates.

Days after releasing a 64 point manifesto, Pawan Kalyan changed his strategy by contesting from not one, but two constituencies, Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram (part of West Godavari.)

The Gajuwaka constituency was created from the Pendurthi constituency in 2009 and since then, it has become famous for multiple reasons.

Pawan Kalyan is all set to fight against the sitting Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA, Palla Srinivasa Rao, and the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party’s (YSRCP) Tippala Nagi Reddy.

Palla Srinivasa Rao seems to have all his ducks in a row. Apart from already holding a seat in this area, Rao’s father also held the seat before him!

“My father Palla Simhachalam was the sarpanch in this mandal for 25 years and was elected as an MLA in 1994 on the TDP ticket. I was born and brought up here and I know the issues of this constituency like the back of my hand,” said Rao while talking about his chances.

According to the comments made by Rao, issues pertaining to the region can only be understood by someone who has lived there. According to Rao, Pawan Kalyan, who is an actor and hasn’t lived in Gajuwaka for as long as Rao, doesn’t understand these problems.

However, while Rao does have his strong points, Pawan Kalyan has quite a few things going for himself as well. Apart from having a large fan following, Kalyan’s JSP has approximately 70,000 members!

The competition in this area is neck to neck. With each of the candidates having just as strong a claim and following as the other, the fight is going to be an exciting one.
