Former Prime Minister and veteran BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee passew away on Thursday at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. The political leader was 93 years old and was put on life support yesterday evening.
The President of India Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to give his condolences to Vajpayee’s family.
Extremely sad to hear of the passing of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, our former Prime Minister and a true Indian statesman. His leadership, foresight, maturity and eloquence put him in a league of his own. Atalji, the Gentle Giant, will be missed by one and all #PresidentKovind

Congress President Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to grief the loss.
Today India lost a great son. Former PM, Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, was loved and respected by millions. My condolences to his family & all his admirers. We will miss him. #AtalBihariVajpayee

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great leader and his birthday the 25th of December is celebrated as Good Governance Day in his name. Mr. Vajpayee was one of the founders of Janata Party in 1977 which later turned to BJP.
The former PM also acted as the President of BJP from 1980 to 1986.
