The Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI,) on the 20th of April, fined Rs. 20 lakhs each on K.L. Rahul and Hardik Pandya, of the Indian Cricket Team.

The BCCI fined both the cricketers for their sexist comments on a popular chat show, Koffee with Karan hosted by Karan Johar.

On the show, the duo revealed some secrets of their sex life and shared their opinion about women in night clubs, which attracted negative criticism and lot of hatred.

D.K. Jain, the Ombudsman of the BCCI, on the 20th of April, directed the players to deposit Rs.1 lakh each to the widow of the 10 constables of the Paramilitary forces and deposit Rs. 10 lakhs for the blind people in India.

The announcement which was published on the official website of the BCCI states, “If the amounts are not paid/deposited by the players within the time granted (four weeks), the BCCI may deduct the said amounts from the match fees payable to the players and make the requisite deposits.”

Mr. Jain said, the cricketers are the role models of India and should behave according to their position and dignity. He further said, the matter should end with the fine, as the cricketers already suffered and apologised for their mistake.

The duo faced a ban from the cricket board after the episode went viral on all the social media platforms, creating hatred among the audience.

However, on the 24th of January, then the BCCI lifted the ban imposed on the two players and allowed them to play for India.

Hardik Pandya after joining the team, played the New Zealand One Day International (ODI) series, whereas Rahul was sent to Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala for a Test match series.
