Titu Badwal, the Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minorities’ cell in Bihar, on the 6th of March, filed a petition against Kanhaiya Kumar, a former student of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU.)

The petition was filed in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kishanganj, Bihar. The BJP minorities’ cell alleged Kanhaiya Kumar of making objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Kanhaiya Kumar, the former President of the Students’ Union of JNU, on the 4th of March, allegedly made “incendiary” comments regarding Modi at a public rally.

Kumar was addressing a rally organised by the Communist Party of India (CPI,) ahead of his debut in the field of politics. Kumar will be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections as a CPI member, in the Begusarai constituency.

This is not the first time that Kanhaiya Kumar has been alleged of passing inappropriate remarks. In 2016, Kanhaiya, a student at the JNU, was arrested for his anti national slogans.

He was accused of shouting anti national slogans during a rally on the JNU campus.

The case registered in the Magistrate Court will be heard soon.
