BJP Leading In Nagaland And Tripura Assembly Elections

The BJP’s hard work in Tripura seems to be paying off with the party taking a sudden lead in the Assembly Elections. The Left Front was leading in 34 seats early today with BJP racing behind with 21 seats. Updates now show BJP overpowering the Left Front Government and leading in 33 seats. The Left Front is leading in 26 seats now.

Congress is having a good run only in Meghalaya with a lead in 23 seats. But in Tripura and Nagaland Congress failed to come up on the map. The battle in Nagaland is between Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the BJP party. NPF is leading in 28 seats while BJP is leading in 29 seats and has already won one seat.

There are a total of 60 seats in the Assembly elections in each of the three states. In Nagaland, one is for a general candidate while the remaining 59 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes(ST.) A total of 196 candidates have contested for the Nagaland Elections out of which five are women.

In Meghalaya 55 constituencies out of the 60 are reserved for ST and the remaining five will be occupied by general candidates. For the 60 seats, 32 women and 338 men have contested in this State.

Tripura, on the other hand, reserved 10 seats for Scheduled Castes and 20 for Scheduled Tribes. The remaining 30 seats will be filled by general candidates. In Tripura, 297 candidates have contested out of which 20 are women.
