Bandaru Dattatreya, a lawmaker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) on the 21st of April, drew criticism for his comments against the K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) led Telangana Government.
Mr. Dattatreya said, Hyderabad is a safe haven for Islamic terrorists, as KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, does not take action against terrorists because he is friends with Owaisi Asaddudin.
The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the ruling Government of Telangana, has good relations with the Owaisi led All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)
The comments of Mr. Dattatreya came after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in Hyderabad in relation to the Islamic State module case. The NIA received intelligence information about Islamic State activists hiding in Hyderabad.
The NIA, on the 20th of April, raided 2 locations in Hyderabad and arrested 4 people linked to the case. The agency is still investigating a 2016 Islamic State related case, the Abu Dhabi terror module case.
Bandaru Dattatreya addressed the media and said, “Recent investigations of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) reveal that Hyderabad is a safe haven for Islamic terrorist activities, that the very activity of Islamic terrorist is increasing in Hyderabad.”
Mr. Dattatreya also demanded the TRS Government form a special cell, under the guidance of the Director General (DG) and the Inspector General (IG) officer, for combating terrorism.
The four suspects are in the custody of the Hyderabad Police and interrogation is still going on.
