Mayawati Das, the President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) on the 23rd of June, appointed Anand Kumar and Akash Anand as the Vice President and the National Coordinator of the BSP respectively.
After breaking the alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP,) Ms. Das appointed her family members to the topmost posts of the BSP.
Although Mayawati did not make any official announcement regarding the appointments, a senior leader of the BSP confirmed the same.
Anand Kumar is the brother of Mayawati and Akash Anand is her nephew.
The decision about their appointments was taken at the all India level meeting held on the 23rd of June in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Senior leaders and top functionaries of the BSP attended the all India level meeting chaired by Mayawati Das.
Apart from Anand Kumar and Akash Anand, Danish Ali, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Amroha, was announced as the leader of the BSP in Lok Sabha.
Girish Chandra, the MP of the Nagina constituency, was given the position of Chief Whip of the BSP.
However, an official announcement regarding all the appointments in the BSP is yet to be made.
