A 19 year old undergraduate student died after jumping off the second floor sunshade of her College during a disaster management training in Coimbatore Tamil Nadu.
N. Logeswari, a second year student of Bachelor of Business Administration (B. B. A) at Kovai Kalaimagal College of Arts and Sciences fell from the sunshade of the second floor at 4 P. M., on Thursday after being pushed by the trainer.
A video taken during the training session shows Logeswari reluctantly standing on the second floor balcony. The trainer, standing next to her, repeatedly propelled her to jump. When she failed to jump, he pushed her. She tumbled down hitting her head on the sunshade of the first floor.
She fell to the ground after hitting her head and was rushed to a private hospital in Thondamuthur. After giving her first aid, she was referred to the State hospital. On reaching the hospital, she was declared ‘brought dead’ by the hospital authorities.
The police filed a case against the trainer for causing death due to negligence. According to the College authorities, the drill training was supervised by the National Disaster Management Authority of India (NDMAI) and 20 students were selected to get trained to jump through an emergency window.
