Apart from the Lok Sabha elections scheduled between April and May 2019, the Election Commission (EC) of India, on the 10th of March, also announced the dates of the Assembly elections to be held in 4 states.
The States which will conduct their Assembly elections are Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Sikkim will conduct their Assembly elections in a single phase, scheduled on the 11th of April 2019.
The Assembly elections in Odisha will be divided into four phases, scheduled on the 11th, 18th, 23rd and 29th of April 2019.
Andhra Pradesh will contest a total of 175 seats in the upcoming Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. The major parties contesting the Assembly elections are the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party.
Arunachal Pradesh will contest a total of 60 seats in the Assembly elections. The major parties contesting in the State are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the People’s Party of Arunachal Pradesh.
Sikkim will contest a total of 32 seats and the major parties contesting the Assembly elections are the BJP, the INC and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF.)
Odisha will contest a total of 147 Assembly seats and the major parties contesting are the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) the INC and the BJP.
The results of all the Assembly elections will be announced on the 23rd of May 2019.
