Days after the Election Commission of India (ECI) banned the release of the biopic  about PM Narendra Modi’s life, it also banned Modi – Journey of A Common Man, a web series  about the life of PM Narendra Modi.

Passing a stay order, the EC asked Eros Now to stop streaming and to remove all content related to the web series  about Prime Minister Narendra Modi till further notice.

“In view of the admitted facts and material available on record, this web series being an original web series on Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister and a political leader and a prospective candidate in the current general elections to the Lok Sabha, cannot be exhibited,” said the poll panel while passing the order.

The Indian National Congress (INC) moved the EC a week ago and asked it to stay the streaming of the web series while the Model Code of Conduct was in place. According to the INC, this web series was influencing voters in its favour since it was released 8 days before the Lok Sabha elections began.

Mapping the life of PM Narendra Modi from his childhood to his days as a Bharatiya Janata Party Chief and finally to becoming the Prime Minister of India, Modi – Journey Of A Common Man has been directed by Umesh Shukla. The first 5 out of the 10 episodes of this web series  already aired on the 3rd of April.

However, after this new order by the EC, Eros Now has no option but to stall the release of the other five episodes on its platform.

Started on the 11th of April, the Lok Sabha Elections are going on in full swing.

The elections will end on the 19th of May.

The results will be declared on the 23rd of May.
