Approximately 8 political parties of India skipped the all party meeting organised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 19th of June.

The all party meeting, the primary agenda of which was discussing ‘One India, One Election,’ started at 3:00 P.M., at the Parliamentary Library building, Delhi.

While the majority of the parties attended the meeting, these eight parties refused to attend the meeting.

During the meeting, the other issues discussed were related to managing fair elections, constructing the Navbharata by the 75th Independence Day in 2022, the celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and working towards the development of backward districts.

The Indian National Congress (INC,) the Trinamool Congress (TMC,) the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK,) the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD,) the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP,) the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) did not attend the meeting.

While Mamata Banerjee, the President of the TMC and Mayawati Das, the President of the BSP, gave their reasons for not attending the meeting, the others skipped the meeting without stating any reason.

On the 19th of June, Mayawati Das took to Twitter and said, if there are not going to be discussions about the elections and democracy, there is no point in attending the meeting.

On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, said, the meeting was called in a hurry, without any preparation for the stated agenda.

The meeting began at 3:00 P.M., and will continue till late.

The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the National Democratic Alliance, the National Congress Party (NCP,) the Biju Janata Dal (BJD,) the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and other parties attended the meeting.
