In a show of bravery, the Indian security forces managed to take out six top Lashkar e Toiba (LeT) terrorists. A Garud Commando Team of the Indian Air Force stormed Hajin area in Jammu and Kashmir to encounter the militants. Among the ones slain were Obaid, nephew of Mumbai attack Mastermind Zaki ur Rehman Lakhvi, Abdul Rehman Makkin, Zargam and Mehmood. The search operation took place in Chandergeer village in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
The security forces received specific intelligence input and cordoned off the area to begin the search operation. The militants started firing at the jawans which resulted in a encounter. Unfortunately, one Garud Commando laid down his life in the line of duty and another was seriously injured.
After the Indian Forces successfully ended the encounter, the area and terrorists were searched. Arms and ammunition like Under Barrel Grenade Launchers, AK 47s, 10 hand grenades were seized from the militants.
The Defense Ministry Spokesman, Col. Rajesh Kalia reported the Rashtriya Rifles (RR,) Special Operations Group (SOG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) surrounded the area. The Garud Commando, a Special Forces Unit was tasked with the hardest part of the encounter. The brave soldiers managed to fight through successfully again.
