The Government of India (GoI,) on the 28th of February, demanded the release of the Indian pilot captured by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF.)

On the 27th of February, during the PAF airstrikes, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthanam, who was flying a MiG 21, was captured by the PAF and taken into their custody.

The GoI denied to negotiate or have any peace dialogue with Pakistan and asked the latter to release Wg Cdr Varthanam immediately.

Referring to the demands of the Pakistan Government, the Indian Government said, if Pakistan thinks they have a trump card (the Indian pilot) to negotiate, then they are wrong.

The GoI made this statement after the spokesman of the Pakistan Foreign Ministry said, “We are ready to hand over the Indian pilot if it leads to de escalation.” The Ministry added, the aforementioned statement was given by Mehmood Qureshi, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan.

Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on the 27th of February, also released a televised statement and tried to initiate peace and discuss the Pulwama terror attack with the Indian Government. Khan also promised to start a fresh investigation regarding the Pulwama terror attack.

The peace making strategy of the Pakistan Government is said to be a chance to save themselves, as the GoI decided to corner Pakistan in the international community.

In the wake of Pulwama terror attack, India also took away the title of Most Favoured Nation (MFN) from Pakistan.

The United States of America (U.S.A.,) also released a statement and warned Pakistan to take serious actions against the terrorist group residing in Pakistan. The terrorist group Jaish e Mohammed (JeM,) which is responsible for the Pulwama attack, is a Pakistan based group.

As of now, the Indian Government is trying every possible way to get back Wg Cdr Varthanam. The Government also started a demarche with a strong protest to return Wg Cdr Abhinandan Varthaman safely to India.

Stay tuned for the further updates.
